The Nar Phu Valley Trek with Tilicho Lake and the Annapurna Circuit is one of the most diverse and adventurous trekking journeys in Nepal. This route blends remote Himalayan valleys, ancient Tibetan-influenced villages, dramatic high-altitude landscapes, and the iconic Thorong La Pass into a single unforgettable expedition.
The adventure begins along the classic Annapurna Circuit trail through the Marsyangdi River valley. Lush forests, terraced farmland, and traditional mountain settlements gradually lead you toward the higher alpine world of Manang. From Koto, the route diverts into the restricted Nar Phu Valley — a secluded region that remained closed to trekkers until 2003.
In this isolated corner of the Himalaya, you will walk through narrow canyons, ancient stone villages, and windswept plateaus where traditional Tibetan culture is still strongly preserved. Villages like Meta, Phu, and Nar showcase centuries-old monasteries, mani walls, and yak pastures beneath towering snow peaks.
After exploring these remote valleys, the trail reconnects with the Annapurna Circuit near Manang. A spectacular side journey leads to Tilicho Lake (4,919 m), one of the highest glacial lakes in the world. Surrounded by dramatic ice walls and barren Himalayan slopes, the lake offers one of the most striking alpine landscapes in Nepal.
The final challenge comes with the crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), one of the highest trekking passes on Earth. From the summit, vast Himalayan panoramas stretch across the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges before the trail descends to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath.
This trek is ideal for experienced trekkers seeking a remote Himalayan journey that combines cultural discovery, dramatic high‑altitude scenery, and classic Annapurna highlights into a single remarkable route.
