The Mardi Himal Yoga Trek combines the physical journey of Himalayan trekking with the calming rhythm of yoga and meditation. Set in Nepal’s Annapurna region, this experience follows a quiet ridgeline trail through forests, alpine meadows, and traditional mountain villages while offering daily yoga sessions in serene natural surroundings.
The adventure begins in Kathmandu before traveling to Pokhara, the relaxed lakeside city that serves as the gateway to the Annapurna Himalaya. From here, the trek gradually climbs from lush foothills into rhododendron forests alive with birds and mountain streams. The trail passes through charming Gurung settlements and peaceful forest camps before reaching the open ridges of the Mardi Himal route.
As elevation increases, the landscape changes dramatically. Dense forest gives way to grassy alpine slopes and narrow ridges with constant views of towering Himalayan peaks. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) rises almost directly above the trail, while Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and other giants of the Annapurna massif dominate the skyline.
Daily yoga and meditation sessions are integrated into the trek, typically held at sunrise or sunset. Practicing yoga in these tranquil mountain settings helps restore energy after each day’s hike while creating space to fully absorb the environment. The combination of mindful movement, clean mountain air, and steady trekking provides both physical and mental rejuvenation.
The journey reaches its high point at Mardi Himal Base Camp (around 4,500 meters), where trekkers are rewarded with a dramatic panorama of snow-covered Himalayan peaks. After enjoying the spectacular views, the route descends through traditional villages before returning to Pokhara.
Moderate in difficulty and far less crowded than many classic Himalayan routes, the Mardi Himal Yoga Trek is ideal for travelers who want both adventure and inner balance. It is a rewarding journey that connects nature, culture, and mindfulness in one unforgettable Himalayan experience.
