The Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most complete long‑distance trekking adventures, linking two of the Himalaya’s most iconic mountain regions into a single grand journey. Over nearly four weeks, the trail winds through remote Himalayan valleys, ancient villages, and dramatic high‑altitude landscapes while crossing two of Nepal’s most impressive mountain passes: Larkya La Pass (5,135 m) and Thorong La Pass (5,416 m).
The journey begins in the secluded Budhi Gandaki Valley beneath Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), the eighth‑highest mountain in the world. The trail climbs steadily through deep gorges, cascading rivers, terraced fields, and forests of pine and rhododendron. Traditional stone villages reveal a blend of Gurung and Tibetan culture, and centuries‑old monasteries reflect the strong Buddhist heritage of the region.
As the route ascends toward Samagaon and Samdo, the landscape opens into high alpine terrain where glaciers and towering peaks dominate the skyline. Crossing the dramatic Larkya La Pass reveals sweeping views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II before descending into the Marsyangdi Valley, where the Annapurna Circuit begins.
The second half of the trek follows the legendary Annapurna Circuit through Manang, Yak Kharka, and Thorong Phedi before tackling the formidable Thorong La Pass. After the crossing, the trail drops into Mustang’s arid landscapes to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath Temple. From here, the journey continues through apple orchards and windswept valleys toward Tatopani’s natural hot springs and the panoramic viewpoint of Poon Hill.
This trek showcases the extraordinary diversity of Nepal—from lush river valleys and traditional mountain cultures to stark Himalayan deserts and towering snow peaks. With constantly changing scenery, deep cultural encounters, and two spectacular high passes, the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek is an unforgettable expedition for trekkers seeking a truly immersive Himalayan experience.
