The Lobuche East Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek blends Nepal’s most legendary trekking route with an achievable Himalayan summit. This adventure leads you through the heart of the Khumbu region to Everest Base Camp before attempting the dramatic 6,189‑meter summit of Lobuche East, one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking peaks.
Your journey begins with a scenic mountain flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From here, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through pine forests, suspension bridges, and traditional Sherpa villages. As the path climbs toward Namche Bazaar—the cultural hub of the Khumbu—you gain your first clear views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku.
Gradual acclimatization days allow you to adapt to the altitude while exploring important landmarks like the famous Tengboche Monastery and the alpine village of Dingboche. Beyond Lobuche village, the landscape becomes stark and glacial as you approach the Khumbu Glacier and Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters.
Before attempting Lobuche East, you’ll also hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m), widely regarded as the best viewpoint in the Everest region. From its rocky summit, Everest rises above the Khumbu Icefall alongside Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori.
The climbing phase begins at Lobuche High Camp where guides provide training on rope techniques, crampon use, and glacier safety. Summit day starts before dawn. The ascent follows snowy slopes and a final exposed ridge leading to the summit of Lobuche East (6,189 m). From the top, climbers are rewarded with sweeping views across the Everest massif, including Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and the Khumbu Glacier stretching far below.
This expedition is designed for adventurous trekkers seeking their first Himalayan summit. While technically straightforward, it demands strong fitness, good acclimatization, and determination. With experienced climbing guides, proper acclimatization, and the unforgettable Everest Base Camp route, the Lobuche East Peak Climb offers an extraordinary introduction to Himalayan mountaineering.

CUSTOMIZE MY TRIPThe ideal seasons for Lobuche East Peak climbing are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months the weather is generally stable, skies are clearer, and mountain views are at their best. Spring brings blooming rhododendron forests, while autumn offers crisp air and excellent visibility across the Himalayas.
This expedition requires several permits including the Lobuche East Peak climbing permit issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association, the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit, and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit. These are typically arranged by the trekking company before departure.
The trip is rated strenuous due to high altitude and the technical elements of the summit climb. Trekkers should be comfortable walking 6–8 hours per day on rugged terrain and have good cardiovascular endurance. Previous trekking experience at high altitude is recommended, though prior mountaineering experience is not mandatory.
Travelers visiting Nepal must obtain a tourist visa. Most nationalities can receive a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A passport valid for at least six months and passport photos are required.
Weather in the Everest region changes rapidly. Lower elevations can be mild during the day, while temperatures near Lobuche High Camp and the summit often drop well below freezing. Nights at higher altitudes are cold, and strong winds are common near the summit ridge.
