The Kori Danda Trek is an emerging adventure in Nepal’s Annapurna region, offering dramatic mountain scenery without the crowds found on more established trails. Located northeast of Pokhara in the Kaski district, the route travels through remote Gurung villages, dense rhododendron forests, and high alpine meadows before reaching the panoramic ridge of Kori Danda (around 3,800–4,115 m). From here, trekkers enjoy sweeping views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and Lamjung Himal.
One of the most remarkable highlights of this trek is a visit to Kapuche Glacier Lake, one of the lowest altitude glacier lakes in Nepal. Surrounded by steep cliffs and towering peaks, its turquoise water reflects the surrounding snowfields, creating a dramatic alpine setting rarely seen by trekkers. The trail to Kapuche passes through quiet pastures and forested valleys, giving travelers the feeling of exploring a truly hidden corner of the Himalayas.
The journey begins in Kathmandu before heading to the lakeside city of Pokhara. A scenic drive leads to Sikles, one of the largest traditional Gurung settlements in Nepal. From there, the trail climbs through forested ridges and remote grazing areas such as Hugu Goth and Noh‑Ta. Camping sections along the higher trail allow trekkers to experience the stillness of the mountains under star‑filled skies.

CUSTOMIZE MY TRIPThe most favorable seasons for the Kori Danda Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During spring the forests are filled with blooming rhododendrons and the skies are generally clear. Autumn offers excellent mountain visibility and stable weather after the monsoon season.
Trekking in this area requires an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). These permits help support conservation projects and maintain trekking infrastructure within the protected region.
This trek is rated moderate. Trekkers should be comfortable walking 5–7 hours per day on varied terrain. Previous hiking experience is helpful but not mandatory if you have a good level of general fitness.
Most travelers can obtain a Nepal tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Visas are also available at Nepalese embassies abroad. Ensure your passport has at least six months validity.
The lower sections of the trek have a mild mountain climate, while higher elevations near Kori Danda can be cold, especially at night. Temperatures vary significantly with altitude, so layered clothing is essential.
