The Kailash Pilgrims Tour is one of the most spiritually meaningful journeys in the Himalayas. Centered around sacred Mount Kailash (6,638m), this expedition combines high‑altitude adventure, cultural discovery, and deep spiritual tradition. Revered by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of Bon, Mount Kailash is believed to be the cosmic center of the universe and a place where pilgrims seek purification and enlightenment.
The journey begins in Kathmandu before traveling north across the Nepal–Tibet border into the vast plateau landscapes of western Tibet. As the road climbs across remote valleys and high desert plains, travelers pass traditional Tibetan settlements, turquoise rivers, and distant Himalayan peaks. The route gradually acclimatizes pilgrims before reaching the holy Lake Mansarovar at 4,600 meters.
Lake Mansarovar is one of the highest freshwater lakes on earth and holds immense religious significance. Pilgrims traditionally walk along its shores, perform ritual bathing, and offer prayers while gazing toward the snowy pyramid of Mount Kailash rising beyond the horizon.
The spiritual highlight of the tour is the Kailash Kora, a three‑day circumambulation around the sacred mountain. The trail winds through dramatic valleys, ancient monasteries, and stark Tibetan landscapes before crossing the high Dolma La Pass (5,670m), the highest point of the journey. From the pass, the route descends past the sacred Gauri Kund lake before continuing toward the valley of Zuthulphuk.
While the trek portion is physically demanding due to altitude, the rewards are immense: close views of the north face of Mount Kailash, encounters with devoted pilgrims from across Asia, and a rare glimpse into Tibetan spiritual culture.
This carefully guided pilgrimage combines overland exploration, high‑altitude trekking, and cultural immersion, making it an unforgettable journey for spiritual seekers and adventurous travelers alike.

CUSTOMIZE MY TRIPThe Kailash pilgrimage is best undertaken between May and September when weather conditions across the Tibetan Plateau are relatively stable and roads are accessible. During these months the skies are generally clearer and daytime temperatures are more manageable for trekking and overland travel.
Travel to Mount Kailash requires several permits issued by Chinese authorities including a Tibet Travel Permit, Alien Travel Permit, and Kailash region entry permit. These are arranged in advance through registered travel agencies as independent travel in this region is not permitted.
The pilgrimage involves long driving days and a demanding three‑day trek reaching 5,670 meters at Dolma La Pass. Participants should have good physical fitness and prior trekking experience at moderate altitude. Proper acclimatization days are included in the itinerary.
Travelers must obtain a Chinese group visa arranged through the tour operator in Kathmandu. Your passport will be submitted for processing before departure. Requirements vary by nationality, so advance preparation is recommended.
The Tibetan Plateau experiences dry, windy conditions with strong sun exposure during the day and cold temperatures at night. Even during summer months temperatures can fall below freezing at higher elevations such as Dolma La Pass.
