There are numerous highlights of this trek. But the basic highlights are the rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls flowing over the mammoth boulders and the wild life of this area. You can also view the numerous holy lakes and behold the natural sceneries of snow covered mountain tops of Langtang Lirung (7,200m/23,622ft).
The trek to Langtang, Gosainkunda & Helambu trek begins from a journey in a bus from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. This village is very interesting and lies on the bank of the Bhote Kosi River. The trail starts to ascend as you make your way along the Langtang Khola, first through forests of oak and rhododendron and then bamboo forests on the higher reaches of the trail. Traveling through Langtang (3,430m/11,253ft), you will reach the Langtang valley and the friendly Sherpa village of Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft).Then again the trail ascends from there towards Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,404ft) for magnificent view of the Langtang Lirung (7,200m/23,622ft) range. From Tserko Ri, a short hike leads us to the beautiful glacial moraine (4,300m/14,107ft). You can also opt to climb it depending upon the time and from there, the most scenic views of Langtang Lirung and the foot of one of its major glaciers can be glanced. Langtang Lirung is also famous for its traditional cheese factory. Cheeses are manufactured by hand here. Once in Chadan Bari (3,330m/10,925ft), having traveled through Lama Hotel, you can behold the magnificent views of the towering snow-covered Ganesh Himal (7,600m/24,934ft) and Langtang -II (7,227m/23,711ft) peaks. These areas are also the natural habitat of Red Panda. They are one of the endangered species of Nepal. Moving on to Gosainkunda, watching the beautiful sunrise over a multitude of glistening Lakes makes you even more romantic. This lake Gosaikunda, is believed to be formed by the Lord Shiva (one of the god of Hindu religion) with his trident. After Laurebinayak pass (4,609m/15,121ft) you will also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of Tarke Gyang and Sermathang (2,621m/8,599ft), before heading back to Kathmandu.
