There are multiple options for the beginning points for Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek . Some people design the itinerary to begin it from Trishuli Bazar, some from Arughat/ Sotikhola or Machhakhola and some do begin from Syabrubesi. Pariwar Holidays begins Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek from Syabrubesi. We take a long jeep or local bus drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. The trail, from Syabrbesi ascends through lush forest and picturesque settlements. We also experience spectacular walk in Langtang National Park. Gradually, we pass numerous passes, natural lakes, pastures and local settlements including Gatlang(2,337m)  Parvati Kunda Somdang(3,271m). Pangsang Pass (3,842m), Tipling (2,087m) Hindung(Gomba Danda) Shertung  Chalish Village(1,875m) Thulo Dhunga(3,337m) and eventually to Nojet Kharka(3,691m), which is the Ganesh Himal Base Camp . While passing these local settlements, lakes and pastures, we fully celebrate undisturbed nature and culture. We take an extra day at Base Camp and enjoy excellent views of mountain and the wilderness around.

On backtracking, we follow the trail via Hindung(2,403m) natural hot spring, Khading Gaon (2,025m)  Khading Gaon, Magne Goth(2,950m) Lapu Danda (1,250m Ganga Jamuna(950m) and finally, arrive at Tripura Sundari from where we take another drive to Kathmandu. Hindung,  which offers us an opportunity to enjoy natural hot spring and Gangajamuna for incredible Manaslu range.

Trekkers will be using very basic local teahouse accommodation during the trek. Optionally, people also choose camping trek to Ganesh Himal Base Camp. Spring and Autumn are the two best seasons of the year for Ganesh Himal Base Camp Trek. Since it is a moderate adventure in Nepal’s Himalayas, trekkers do not require technical skills and past experience of hiking and trekking. Those who have goo level fitness and confidence can accomplish this trek.

  • Day3:– Trek to Somdang (3,271m/10,760ft) 6-7 hours
  • Day4:- Trek to Pangsang Pass (La) (3,842m/12,640ft) 3 ½ hours
  • Day5 :-Trek to Shertung /Chalish via Tipling  (1,875m/6,188ft) 5-6 hours

Detail Itinerary:-

This drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu is entirely via countryside. We either take a private jeep or local bus for Syabrubesi. Leaving Kathmandu, we pass Kakani along Pashna Lhamu Highway. It is highway; however, the road is very narrow. Further, passing Trishuli Bazar, the road ascends via picturesque traditional settlements. The final section of the road is a bit dangerous along the Rocky Mountains. We get to Dhunche Bazar and further 15 minutes drive finally takes us to Syabrubesi.

We take a private jeep and drive along the rough mountain road to Chawatar first. After an hour’s drive, we arrive at Chawatar. Optionally, we can walk to Chawatar escaping this drive. Passing through lush woods an magnificent Tamang people’s settlements, we arrive at Gatlang.

Initially, we head to Parvati Kunda, a holy freshwater lake on the way to Somdang. We stop here for sometime and enjoy the beauty of it. Walking via lush rhododendron and pine forest, we arrive at Yuri Kharak. We usually stop here for our lunch. We also see the mineral extraction tunnel on today’s trail. Our further few hours of attempt take us, finally, to Somdang.

Relatively, we have shorter hours to walk today from Somdang to Pangsang Pass. You will fully enjoy today’s walk with marvelous landscapes and mountain views including Ganesh Himal and Manslu. We get to Pangsang Pass at lunchtime and go to explore the village in the afternoon. The local lifestyle and their unique culture make toddy’s trip more special here.

We enjoy breathtaking mountain views while having our breakfast today. Today, initially, we walk down to Laptung village. On the way, we pass via lush forest including rhododendron and fir. After few hours walk, we get to Tipling where we stop for lunch. After lunch we again begin to enjoy trekking via country topography, which, finally, takes us to Shertung or Chalish. Actually, these two villages are neighboring villages each other. We stay overnight at Shertung and if anyone have an interest to visit Chalish, we go there and explore the village and their culture. Shertung is famous for gold.

Today’s trek to Hindung, also known as Gomba Danda, is equally mesmerizing. We enjoy the first-class wilderness. The serene nature including deep woods and traditional settlements are incredible to experience. Arriving at Hindung, we explore the Tamang traditional settlement. This village is famous for crystal and rubies. Also, you can experience Yarsagumba here.

Today, we are gaining more than 9 meter elevation. So, do a good hydration prior to the walk. While ascending to Thulo Dhunga, we pass various natural wonders including some species of animlas like wild boars, musk deer, languor and jharal. You will also see a wonderful natural water fall on the way to Thulo Dhunga today. We enjoy the overnight stay at this beautiful settlement far away from the modernization.

The journey, today, is blend of excitement and adventure. The excitement in the sense that you are going to put your footstep at Ganesh Himal Base Camp which is the ultimate destination of this trek and it is adventurous in the other sense that we are walking on some steep and rough trails too. The mountain views and the absolute wilderness at Ganesh Himal Base Camp will be the most blissful moments for the lifetime. The green meadows and the thrilling surrounding marvel us here.

Today, we explore Ganesh Himal Base Camp and the surrounding. We also hike up to find best viewpoint to capture marvelous Ganesh Himal and other mountain range nearby. The closer views of Ganesh and other snow-fed peaks make us stunned today. While undertaking a short hiking today, we also see two freshwater lakes including Kalo Kunda(Black Lake) and Seto Kunda(White Lake) which are considered to be holy. You can enjoy rest of the time in your own way.

We begin backtracking today. We trek all the way down to Hindung or Gomba Danda. We are following the same trail back to Hindung, however, the walk will equally be spectacular. Walking via magnificent landscapes and traditional settlements will be absolutely enjoyable to us. We also enjoy the also via lush forest before getting to Hindung.

First, we trek to hot spring. Here, we spend a couple of hours for relaxation dipping our tired body into lukewarm water. Next, we trek following the stone steps which take us to Tir. Passing Tir and attempting to further walk, finally, takes us to Racyat Gaon or Kapur Village.

Heading towards Khading Village, we pass Lapa which is a beautiful Gurung village. The village is magnificent to explore. We have lunch here. We, further, pass via spectacular landscapes and traditional settlements and arrive at Khading. We can talk with local people and exchange our cultural understandings here.

We leave Khading Gaon and begin the walk via pine and rhododendron. We also enjoy seeing spectacular terraced fields. Today’s trail is going all the way up, however, passing traditional settlements and farmlands will make this journey more pleasant. After arriving at Magne Goth, we can explore the large rocky mountain where ruby extraction is done. Explore the entire area if you like.

We enjoy beautiful breakfast before we leave Magne Goth for Lapu Danda. Walking ,mostly, downhill may make us tired today, however, passing through deep woods and awe-inspiring landscapes will be very delightful. We enter into Gorkha district today and again leave Gorkha and trek to Dhading district for overnight stay. We pass Dhonjet, a small settlement which leads us to Katunje. Next, we reach Manabu which makes a shift to Dhading district from Gorkha. Making another attempt for few hours, we arrive at Laphu Danda, which is a small village inhabited by Brahmin people. The village offers us to enjoy massive plain lands and breathtaking Manaslu, Himalchuli, Shringi peaks spectacular Ganesh Himal range.

We enjoy majestic Mt. Manaslu and other alluring mountain peaks today. We pass Baseri village before we get Ganga Jamauna. Passing through Dandagaon, we , finally arrive at Ganga Jamuna. Ganga Jamuna is popular for twin natural water falls and some religious importance. Every year, a special fair is held here. From Ganga Jamuna, one can witness Annapurna range, Himchuli, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Range and Lamjung Himal.

We leave Ganga Jamuna and trek via numerous settlements of Brahmins and Chhetris. Similarly, the terraced fields, lush forest and magnificent Mt. Manaslu will still be dominant during this walk. Moving ahead, we see Aankhoo River and finally arrive at Tripurasundari.

We take a bus/private jeep ride to Kathmandu from Tripura Sundari and end our trek. We cross Aankho Khola Bridge and pass various settlements to arrive at Dhanding Besi. Further, we get connected to the Prithvi Highway and Trishuli River. Passing through Thankot, we arrive in Kathmandu.
