Welcome to the beautiful city of Nepal!! There won’t be a possibility for you to feel like an outsider when you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu as one of the representatives of Pariwar Holidays Pvt. Ltd will be there to receive you. After your airport check-up formalities, you will be led directly to your hotel. Please make sure that you have enough rest at the hotel and you can also try to explore around the beautiful city on your own. It is fun to meet people around the place as most of them speak English. Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual sites of Kathmandu. Most of these landmarks are categorized under World Heritage Sites. They include the historic Durbar Square of Basantapur, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists’ shrine (Bouddha Nath). Boudha Nath is the largest spherical Stupa of Nepal. At the evening, there will be a pre-trip discussion and trek leaders along with other team members will also be meeting to discuss about the upcoming adventure. Please do feel free to ask any questions regarding the trip that you are making.

On this day, after breakfast, you will be escorted to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft). It is a gateway destination to begin our trek. From Kathmandu, it takes around 40 minutes to fly to Tenzing-Hillary Airport of Lukla. The breathtaking views of White Mountains, green lands and other interesting scenic views can be seen while flying. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world that culminates in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. Upon arriving at Lukla, we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. The trek from Lukla to Phakding is a very short one and is designed just to assist in acclimatization. However, if you are interested, we can also arrange for a side trip to a nearby monastery. This day, we trek through a beautiful pine forest. The trail leads us along the Dudh Koshi River through many suspension bridges. One of the most famous suspension bridges is Hillary Suspension Bridge. Along the way, glancing at the glistening and majestic view of Mr. Thamserku (6618m) and passing through the settlement of Benkar, Chumoa and Monjo, we reach the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. We also pass through the village of Jorsale before reaching Namche Bazaar. Along the way, the trail ascends through forests and bridges to reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. From there, we ascend for around two hours to reach Chautara from where we can glance the breathtaking first glance of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Another one and half hour’s hike takes us to the Namche Bazaar, the main trading center of this region and the gateway to the Mt. Everest. Our overnight stay will be in one of the lodge of the Namche Bazaar.

This day marks as our first of the two rest days which are set aside for “acclimatization”. Most of the Health experts recommend you to stay active and moving during the rest day too instead of being idle. We can either spend the day by taking a day’s hike to Thame or visit Khunde or relax and explore the Namche Bazaar itself. Namche Bazzar is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. A trek of a few hundred vertical feet during the day, will help us to acclimatize properly. Our guides take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region.

On this day, our journey starts with ascending the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel. This is a deluxe hotel built by a Japanese to have the splendid views of the highest mountains on Earth. The trek further ascends for around 2 hours to the village of Khumjung. The Khumjung valley is surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kondge and Thamserku and the sacred peak Khumbila. This village also hosts a well known monastery where the scalp of legendary Yeti can be seen. We will also have time to visit the Hillary School in the village. Another set of busy and colorful monasteries, lined with prayer flags and prayer wheels, are braced along the slopes high above this traditional village.

The trek of this day descends down to Dudhkoshi River passing through little villages on the way. The trail of this day involves descending down the dense forest. After crossing the riverside, we will stop for lunch. Then we ascend for around 2 hours through pine and fir forest to reach a small hill Tyangboche. It has the famous Tengboche Gumba. We can spend the rest of the day by exploring around the monastery. There are various photogenic places around Tengboche as the most scenic views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku can be seen from here. Our overnight stay will be in a lodge at Tengboche.

At dawn we spend a brief time at Tengboche, to observe its many prayer wheels. The prayer altars inside the monastery cannot be explored as the monastery opens at 3 pm only. From Tengboche, a steep descend of about 1500ft/500m leads through rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Koshi River. The first bridge over Dudh Koshi needs to be crossed on our return trip at Phunki Tenga. The trail further passes through the village of Tashinga and Sansa before finally reaching beautiful village of Kyangjuma. From Kyangjuma, splendid view of Mt. Ama-dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Everest can be seen. Our overnight will be in a lodge at Kyangjuma.

The trail from Kyangjuma to Monjo is like a steep maze. The faunas found in this trail include mountain goats, snow leopards and colorful pheasants. Since these are natural are the animals of the wild, it all depends upon your luck if you could spot them. From Namche, we take a steep downhill route and cross a suspension bridge over Dudhkoshi River. This river needs to be crossed in many places before reaching Monjo. Along the trail, we reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park and from there, finally we reach the beautiful village of Monjo. Our overnight will be in a teahouse at Monjo.

This day marks as the last of your trekking. The trek of this day is not that hard. The route consists of trivial ascents and descents but in most of the part, it is flat. We walk through the open plains, rhododendron and pine forests and Sherpa villages. The suspension bridge of the Dudhkoshi River needs to be crossed at three different points to reach the village of Chheplung. From Chheplung, Lukla is very close by. Though we get tired due to the trekking, our eyes would be savoring the panoramic views of the places around. After reaching Lukla, there is time to relax and celebrate the successful accomplishment with all of the crew members. Our overnight stay will be in a teahouse at Lukla.

On this day, we fly back to Kathmandu in an early morning flight. Upon your arrival at the hotel, you can rest and relax throughout the day. If you are interested you can also opt to visit around the ancient streets of Thamel to buy souviners for your relatives and friends who are back in your country. In the evening, the team members of Pariwar Holidays will host a dinner at one of the best restaurants of Thamel for your successful accomplishment of the trek. Our overnight will be in a hotel in Kathmandu.
