Begin your Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek from a beautiful town Lukla. Optionally, you can begin it following the classical trail via Junbesi and Surke. The Lukla airport receives regular flights from Kathmandu and then ways out for trekking in Everest region. The trail provides us an opportunity to experience the walk into Sagarmatha National Park from Monjo. Now, trekkers will experience various species of flora and fauna in the national park. Ascending up to Hotel Everest View, exploring Namche Bazar and holy Tengboche monastery will magnificently dwell in our memories. Passing Dingboche and Lobuche, we trek to Everest Base Camp and climb Kalapatthar where we will marvel at witnessing the most stupendous and closest view of Mt. Everest, Pumori, Nupse and Loa Tse. Next, we head to Chola Pass. The Chola Pass again offers the entire mountain panorama of the mountain summits in Khumbu region.  Spectacular Gokyo Valley, Gokyo Lake and Gokyo ri are the major highlights of shifting to Gokyo from Everest Base Camp. Explore freshwater Gokyo Lake, Gokyo town and ascend up to Gokyo ri from where trekkers can imprison the entire breathtaking mountain panorama of Khumbu region. On backtracking, we follow the trail via Machhermo and Dole to arrive at Lukla.

So, if you are planning an adventure trekking in Nepal combining both Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake, Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek. This trek also can be done clockwise in which we, first, trek to Gokyo via Dole and Machhermo and then to Everest Base Camp crossing Chola Pass. Level of Difficulty:-

Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek is a challenging in the sense that you are not only trekking to Everest Base Camp but also have to cross adventurous Chola Pass (5420m). People grade Chola Pass as one of the challenging passes of the world. Sometimes, you may have to confront with weather extremes like heavy snowfall. And, also some trekkers get altitude sickness on the trail. So, trekkers who are planning this trek require high level of stamina and confidence. Prior trekking / hiking experience is must. Address your health issue before you board on the trip properly.

Food and Accommodation:-

In most of the places, you are going to get local lodge accommodation except in Namche and Dingboche. In Namche and Dingboche, you will get better accommodation those other places during this trek. During peak trekking seasons: Autumn ( Sep-Nov) and Spring (Mar-May), the lodges may get largely populated. You will get almost all items of food during this trek like in major cities these days. In some cases, the lodge can satisfy you because there may be shortage food stuffs which are carried by yaks and mules.

  • Day 01: Your Arrival At T.I.A. Kathmandu.
  • Day 02: Trek preparation & free day.
  • Day 03: 35-40 minutes Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla 2860 M. and same day trek to Phakding 2660 M. (3-4 hours).
  • Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar 3440 M. (5-6 hours).
  • Day 05: A rest day & excursion day.
  • Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazzar to Tengbuche 3870 M. (6 hours).
  • Day 07: Trek from Tengbuche to Dingboche 4460 M. (5-6 hours).
  • Day 08: A rest day and excursion day.
  • Day 09: Trek from Dingbuche to Lobuche 4910 M. (5-6 hours).
  • Day 10: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep 5160 M. & Hike to Everest Base Camp 5364 M. – Gorakshep (7-8 hours).
  • Day 11: Early morning hike from Gorakshep to Kalapather 5550 M. & trek descent to Dzonla 4830 M. (6-7 hours)
  • Day 12: Trek from Dzongla to Thaknak 4750 M. via Chola pass 5420 M. (6-7 hours).
  • Day 13: Trek from Thaknak to Gokyo Lake 4800 M. (4-5 hours).
  • Day 14: Hike to Gokyo Ree (5360 M.) & same day Trek down Dhole (6-7 hours).

  • Day 16: Trek from Monjo to Lukla (4-5 hours).

Itinerary

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport via you international flight. Representative from Pariwar Holidays will receive you and transfer to the hotel. You will attend a brief discussion regarding your trip program. Otherwise, there is not special program for today.

You can take a walk around the city, explore the market and do buy the things/equipment you require for the trek. If you are planning to buy them in Lukla or in Namche, do not do that, because they will cost much more. You can also go to the restaurants and enjoy your favorite food. Optionally, you can do half-day Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour.

Drive to Kathmandu airport from hotel and board in the flight to Lukla. Enjoy this spectacular 35-40 minute flight with magnificent landscapes and mountain panorama. Land at Lukla Airport and meet your all trekking there. Now, you begin your walk to Phakding via Lukla town. After a few hours of walk via lush forest, you will get to Phakding.

Important notice: “Lukla flight is departing and returning to Ramechhap Manthali airport due to ongoing upgrades at Kathmandu airport. It’s about a 4/5 hours drive to Ramechhap from Kathmandu so we will get started for the airport around 2:30 am. The return drive at the end of the trek is between 4/5 hours”.

We will enjoy today’s walk into Sagarmatha National Park from Monjo. You will also have thrills of crossing a few suspension bridges over Dudhkoshi River before you get an ascent to Namche Bazar. The final section of today’s trail while getting to Namche Baazaar is, relatively, tougher. However, the walk takes you to spectacular town, Namche, in the lap of mountains.

Majority of trekkers walk up to Hotel Everest View and imprison stupendous Mt. Everest and other closer mountain summits and you will do the same in the morning. Also, the landscapes and Khumjung village will be incredible from Hotel Everest View. You will take a short walk down to Namche and explore the town visiting Sherpa Culture Museum, shops and restaurants. You can go to have glimpses of Traditional Tibetan market in the evening.

Ascend up to the flat trail enjoying the view of Amadablam. Follow the flat trail for few hours. In this section of trail, you will see mules and yaks carrying heavy loads on their back. Trek down to the river, ascend up via pine and rhododendron and finally arrive at Tengboche. You will go to explore sacred Tengboche Monastery in the evening.

Enjoy this walk today though lush rhododendron and other species forest. On the way, the view of Ama Dablam is dominantly visible. Enter into a beautiful town, Dingboche which is beginning point for Island Peak Climbing.

Walk to Chukkung Valley and climb Chukkung ri if you want. For this, you will follow the flat trail passing through the river beach. You will enjoy seeing various alpine vegetations on the trail today. Capture mesmerizing Island Peak, Chukkung ri and other majestic snow-covered mountains. Trek back to Dingboche and take a walk around the town.

Today, you will enjoy the walk via tundra vegetations. The combination among alpine plants, dry landscapes and some incredible mountain views will, certainly, make your today’s trip more exciting. Arrive at Lobuche, a small populated town and stay at local lodge.

We follow the trail passing through completely dry ridges today. A few hours of walk take us to Gorekhshep. We take a rest and have lunch here. After that, we walk to Everest Base Camp and capture the most delightful moments of witnessing breathtaking mountain panorama and glaciers. Walk back to Gorekhshep and stay overnight at lodge.

Normally, people climb Kalapatthar early in the morning before the sun rises so that they can capture astonishing sunrise and mountain views. The top of the Kalapatthar hill offers you the most majestic views of Mt. Everest, Pumori, Loa Tse, Nupse and other neighboring summits. Next, trek down to Gorekhshep and have breakfast. After breakfast, head to Dzongla via Lobuche and you will prepare for next day’s adventure to Chola Pass.

Chola Pass may be challenging for you today. So, do a well preparation with right and reliable trekking equipment. Follow you guide instructions properly. Ascend up to the top of Chola following the rocky trail. On the top, you will encounter snow. Walk very carefully. From the top, you can capture jaw-dropping mountain panorama around. You will, finally, trek down to Thaknak.

Today, you enter into spectacular Gokyo valley witnessing majestic glacier and mountain views. Walk passing through various ridges until you arrive at Gokyo Lake. You hardly believe to seeing a massive freshwater lake just in the front. Walk around the Gokyo town and stay at lodge.

Hike up to the top of Gokyo ri before sunrise. When the sun rises, the mountain summits including Mt. Everest begin to glitter. Slowly, the entire panorama will be magnificent. We imprison these blissful moments into our camera and inward eye, we walk down to Gokyo town and again trek down to Dole after having breakfast. Leave Gokyo Valley after crossing a ridge and trek all the way down to Dole.

Leave Dole after you have your breakfast. Trek through traditional settlements and lush forest witnessing incredible mountain views. Pass Namche Bazaar and trek to Monjo enjoying the walk equally in Sagarmatha National Park.

Today, you will walk out of Sagaramtha National Park and head to Lukla. We pass Phakding and ascend up to Lukla and wait for another short domestic flight to Kathmandu.

We fly to Kathmandu early in the morning. We try our best to catch the early flight because the weather may interrupt the flight in the late morning or in the afternoon. Land at Kathmandu airport and drive to the hotel. We will enjoy a beautiful cultural farewell dinner in the evening.

Day 18 :
Departure.

We formally end this trip by dropping you at Tribhuvan International Airport so that you can board on your international flight to get back to your home or any other destinations.
